INT. “THE PENS” – CRIMINAL JUSTICE COURT – MANHATTAN
The holding cells behind the arraignment courts.
FOLLOWING A MIDDLE-AGED LAWYER, SAM POWER
Craggy and intense. Carrying a plastic Evian bottle, he MOVES past the untouchables of the NEW YORK CITY criminal justice system. Mostly Black anf Brown PRISONERS shouting obscenities, pleading for help, asking for their lawyers.
A cacophony of noise echoes against concrete halls: the CLANGING of metal bars, JANGLING of jailer’s keys, doors opening and closing.
CLOSE ON PAIR OF HANDS
Fumbling to open a bottle of Tylenol. The hands finally pry open the lid, two tablets spill out.
WIDER – A COUNSEL CELL
Power sits across the LUIZ, an angry Hispanic kid. Power takes a sip from his bottle, down the Tylenol, then reads from a report.

Above houses. Hundreds of houses. A peaceful tract of what looks like Middle America. But there is something wrong here. Something you can’t put your finger on until we….
INTO ONE OF THE HOUSE
Its paint peeling. Its porch sagging. Its windows broken. This house is dead. All the houses are dead. Whatever life that once occupied them departed years ago.
The sound of a DIESEL ENGINE GROWS.
suddenly FILLS THE FLAME, its claw raised. The claw drops, its teeth punching a hole in the roof.
As the OPERATOR works the lever, raising the claw. As he backs up….
ON THE FOREMAN
watching. Something catches his eye, and panic fills his face.
Unseen by the Operator, near the Excavator’s rear track, the ground is giving way!
runs towards the Excavator, shouting and waving his arms.
Hey, Harry, stop! Stop!
The Operator finally turns to see the Foreman waving him off. He cuts the engine.
“12:00 P.M. – 1:00 P.M.”
ACT ONE : FADE IN:
EXT. L.A. STREET
CREDITS OVER AS
THE WHITE MAN
Cruises down a boulevard. As it approaches a gas station on a corner, the van slows and turns in.
The driver edges the vehicle up beside the pump island, pulling up in a position that takes up the access to both pumps.
After a beat, the driver, MARKO – cuts the engine. BASHEER gets out, moves to the forward pump. He slides a card in the slot to pay.
In b.g., a late model pick-up with an American flag decal on the door pulls in behind the Van.
Basheer hits a few numbers on the pump keyboard.
IN THE PICK UP
The redneck DRIVER – stocky, mid-thirties – looks to the van, annoyed, grumbling to himself.
Jesus give me a break.
He honks his HORN.
About to pump his gas when he hears the HORN. He looks back at the pick-up as the Driver opens his door and approaches, not happy about the situation.
What the hell’s wrong with you?
Basheer looks confused, a little nervous.
“WIRED” is action/adventure series about a Blackwater-type security firm that needs more agents that it can recruit. It’s solution is to re-program death row inmates with a complete new “memory.” Steven Blackburn had always maintained his innocence in the brutal murder of his wife. But with all options exhausted, he agrees to become new Citadel Agent “James Quill” on the eve of his execution. After re-implantation surgery of this new memory over his old one, he is teamed with seasoned Agent Faith Kellman. We hear the SOUND of METAL CLANGING AGAINST METAL
INT. DEATH CHAMBER COMPLEX PREP ROOM
SERIES OF CLOSE UPS:
An IV line being connected to a bag of saline solution.
A syringe filling from a vial , marked “Sodium Pentothal.”
A metal tray on which lay two other vials, one marked “Pavulon”, the other “Potassium Chloride” – each with syringes next to them. Administered in order, a recipe for death.
WIDEN to see the Medial Technicians going about the grim business of preparing a lethal injection.
As the CAMERA PUSHES PAST THE PREP ROOM TOWARD a wheeled gurney. With its clean, white sheets and pillow it almost belies its purpose. The two extended armrests with restraints and the IV tube leading from the prep room tell another story. Again we hear the SOUND of METAL AGAINST METAL.
INT. ROOM OUTSIDE HOLDING CELL
The WARDEN and a PRIEST watch as a PRISON ENGINEER tries again to force open the cell door. The high-tech locking mechanism has malfunctioned; the door will only open four inches.
